International Convention

ICON was at Atlanta, Georgia this year! We left Wichita in a bus about 6:30am to 7:00am on     July 3, 2016. We also had picked up a few people at Parsens. On the first day of the tour, we all introduced ourselves and got familiar with the other people on the bus. We stopped at Lamberts during the trip, which was a bunch fun! For those of you who don't know, Lamberts throws rolls at you!

Once we arrived in Atlanta we dropped our luggage off and we went to the World of Coke and the largest aqurim in the world! That night we had opening session and a meet and greet, which was held in a large room that had a bouncy house, a live band, and a place where you could make dog toys for the dog shelter! The next day we started workshops! The workshops included things like officer training, self-encouragement and speech training. The following night there was a dance and a student louge. Friday there was more fun workshops and fantastic speakers. We also started caucus after lunch. Candidates who wanted to be on the International Board gave their speeches and were interviewed.  The recognition session followed.  The top eight people of the talent show preformed their acts. The following day we had a group workshop and House of Delgates. Afterward we had a closing session and a dance to finish the night off.

The total cost for International Convention was $1,050. This does sound like a bunch, but with fundraising and a little help from your club and Kiwanis, ICON is possible! Think of it this way, if you can pay 1/3 of the price yourself, do fundraising to pay for another 1/3, with the last 1/3 possibly be donated by your local Kiwanis clubs.
